1.  Take a "FLYAWAY" BUS to Union Station

  • $9.75 per person

  • FLYAWAY bus leaves LAX every 30 minutes. 

  • Pickup locations for the FLYAWAY:

    • Look for green signs that say “FlyAway, Buses Long Distance Vans” located outside baggage claim (lower) level of the airport.  

  • Board a FLYAWAY bus heading to "UNION STATION".  

    • The ride to Union Station may take 35 minutes or longer depending on traffic and weather.

After arriving at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles…​

2.  Take the Metro Rail "GOLD LINE" Train towards PASADENA

  • $1.75* per person, one-way.

  • Disembark at either ALLEN STATION (about 1 mile from the Pasadena Shumei Center) OR

  • after dusk to the SIERRA MADRE VILLA STATION (about 2 miles from the National Center).

  • It is approximately a half hour ride from Union Station to Pasadena.

  • *IMPORTANT: Metro Rail requires a TAP card to pay the fare. First-time riders can purchase a TAP card at the ticket machine for $1.

After arriving at Allen Station or Sierra Madre Villa Station in Pasadena…​

3.  WALK, TAKE A BUS, or arrange a RIDE to the Shumei America National Center

  • Cost is $0 to $9 per person.

  • The National Center address is 2430 E. Colorado Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91107.

    • WALK

      • It is a 20-minute walk from Allen Station and a 40-minute walk from Sierra Madre Villa Station.

    • TAKE A BUS

      • From ALLEN STATION (requires a half-mile walk): 

        1. Walk to the corner of  Colorado Blvd. and Allen Ave.

        2. Take "Foothill Transit Bus #187" eastbound (toward Montclair Transit Center).

        3. Get off the bus on SIERRA MADRE BLVD. and walk 300 feet to the National Center.

      • From the SIERRA MADRE VILLA STATION:

        • Board "METRO LOCAL #181" bus westbound (towards Hollywood/Vine Station).

        • Get off at ALTADENA DR. and walk 600 feet to the National Center. 

    • ARRANGE A RIDE

      • If arriving after dusk, we recommend you arrange a ride through a friend or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft (about $9 from either station).
